Welcome to Year 2  

Class 2:  Miss Walker (Tuesday - Friday), Mrs Morrison (Monday) & Mrs Ventre

Class 2a: Mrs Williams, Mrs Collis & Mrs Heal

Wednesday afternoon - the classes will be taught by Mrs Hill & Mrs Collis while Miss Walker & Mrs Williams have PPA time.

NOTICEBOARD:

A new tab, Spelling shed, has been added.  Have fun playing the games to practise this week's spelling rule.  The homework menu for this term has been added to the files at the bottom of this page.

 

 

 

Week beginning: 13th May

Monday - Wear clothes suitable for allotments (both classes).

Tuesday - Wear normal school uniform

Wednesday - Wear normal school uniform

Thursday - Wear PE kit

Friday -  Wear black & white for Christies, class 2a only have their cube jar treat.

Don't forget coats and water bottles every day!  

In English, the children will plan and then write a letter imagining they are David or tucky, the evacuees in Friend or Foe.

Our spelling rule for the week: adding the suffix -ed to one syllable words.  The children will use the rule double the last letter then add -ed to words with a short vowel sound and one consonant (pat - patted,  shop - shopped) or just add -ing to words with a long voewl sound or a short vowel followed by 2 consonants (play - played, flock - flocked).  See the spelling shed tab for a parent's guide and link to the spellng shed website.

In Maths, the children will finish their fractions unit.  They will find two quarters and three quarters of shapes, lengths, quantities and sets, recognise the equivalence of one half and three quarters and develop their counting in 3s. 

In History, the children will finish learning about how people kept themselves safe during World War 2 and will learn about why rationing was needed.

In DT, the children will create a paper template for their glove puppet.

In PE, the children will practise their athletics skills in preparation for sports day.

In computing the children will finish their coding unit by creating a program which includes specific buttons and objects.

In RE, the children will continue to learn about Islam.  They will work to answer the Key Question: Does going to a Mosque give Muslims a sense of belonging?
