Wednesday afternoon - the classes will be taught by Mrs Hill & Mrs Collis while Miss Walker & Mrs Williams have PPA time.

A new tab, Spelling shed, has been added. Have fun playing the games to practise this week's spelling rule. The homework menu for this term has been added to the files at the bottom of this page.

In English, the children will write an informal letter to Rapunzel, we will start reading Friend or Foe (a WW2 novel), recap apostrophes for possession (Tucky's sandwich, David's coat) and generate vocabulary linked to feeling scared, relieved and excited.
Our spelling rule for the week: adding the suffix -ing to one syllable words. The children will use the rule double the last letter then add -ing to words with a short vowel sound and one consonant (pat - patting, shop - shopping) or just add -ing to words with a long voewl sound or a short vowel followed by 2 consonants (play - playing, flock - flocking). In Maths, the children will start a new unit - fractions. They will recognise equal and not equal parts, identify one half, one quarter and one third and calculate one half, one quarter and one third of quantities.
In Science, the children will identify which is the odd one out between a sunflower seed, sunflower seedling and amarylis bulb.
In DT, the children will design their WW2 themed glove puppet and create a paper template.
In PE, the children will practise their athletics skills in preparation for sports day.
In computing the children will create a program that uses a 'timer-after ... ' command.
In RE, the children will continue to learn about Islam. They will work to answer the Key Question: Does going to a Mosque give Muslims a sense of belonging?
