Welcome to Year 2 

NOTICEBOARD:

Welcome to Year 2.   Click on the 'Next Week in Year 2' tab each week to find out what the children are learning about each week.  Scroll down for the meet the teacher presentation.  Please set up your school spider account so you can receive messages from school through this, you have all been sent an email about this - speak to the school office if you need help or have not received an email. 

Please ensure reading folders are brought into school on Tuesdays.

Smart watches, for example the VTECH smart watch MUST NOT be worn in school.  We do, however, encourage the children to wear appropriate watches to school - analogue or simple digital watches. 

Some children are telling us they are expecting toast and bacon sandwiches but are not on the list. When you add money to the account, please make sure you tick the option too and go through to the checkout otherwise it won't register.

During Year 2 the children will be learning about many new and exciting topics, including:

Geography - India and Holmes Chapel

History - Jodrell Bank and World War 2

Science - Habitats, materials, plants and what animals need to survive

Computing - Staying safe online, effective searching, spreadsheets, coding, creating pictures and sharing information.

PE - Indian Dance, Gymnastics, Multiskills, Outside games skills (kicking, throwing, passing, throwing, striking) and Athletics

DT - Indian chutneys, moving vehices and sewing hand puppets

Art - Pattern, printing, drawing, creating shades and tones of colour and sculpture

RE - Christianity and Islam

We will go for a village walk in the Autumn Term and have a trip booked to the Stockport Air Raid Shelter on Monday 15th June 2025.
