Week beginning: Monday 1st June

Our last week and final phonics push before the phonics screener next week.

Monday - Wear normal school uniform.

Tuesday -  Wear outside PE kit, we will be outside practising for sports day.

Wednesday -  Wear outside PE kit, we will be outside practising for sports day.

Thursday - Wear normal school uniform. 

Friday - Wear  normal school uniform.

 

English - The children will be introduced to the story, Grandad's Island by Benji Davis.  They will explore the school grounds by following clues, they will learn the meaning of new vocabulary and generate questions to answer about the 2 main characters - Syd and Grandad.

Reading - Reading groups will continue this week.  Please return reading books on Tuesday, new reading books will be sent home on Thursday.

Maths - The children will count in 2s, 5s and 10s.  They will identify how many groups there are and link this to 2p, 5p and 10p coins, understand that a 2p is equivalent to two pennies, a 5p coin is equivalent to 5 pennies and a 10p coin represents a group of ten pennies.

Science - The children will name some common animals.

PSHE - The children will learn how to stay safe around strangers.

Geography - The children will compare the size of Holmes Chapel with London.

Outside PE is athletics.

RE (Judaism) - The children will learn about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur this half term.

Art - The children will learn about colour and colour mixing.

Music - Music linked to our bodies.
