Standards Report 2025/26: A Year of Strong Achievement

We are delighted to share the excellent progress and achievements of pupils across Holmes Chapel Primary school.  Throughout the year, children have demonstrated high levels of attainment and made significant progress across the curriculum, with results in areas above national.

Early Years Success - Our Reception children achieved outstanding outcomes by the end of the year 2026:

  • 89.6% achieved the Expected Level in Reading
  • 95.8% achieved the Expected Level in Writing
  • 93.8% achieved the Expected Level in Mathematics
  • GLD 90% (national 2025 68.3%)

Children also excelled across all areas of the Early Years curriculum, with many areas reaching 100% achievement, reflecting the strong foundations established in our Early Years provision.

Strong Outcomes Across School - Attainment across Key Stages 1 and 2 remained consistently high, with the majority of pupils achieving age-related expectations or above in Reading, Writing and Mathematics. Many year groups also saw increasing numbers of pupils working at Greater Depth by the end of the academic year.

Excellent Performance in National Assessments - Pupils performed exceptionally well in key national assessments June 2026:

  • Year 1 Phonics Screening Check: 90% pass rate (national 2025 80%)
  • Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check:8% of pupils scored between 20 and 25 out of 25

Key Stage 2 SATs Results 2026 - We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of our Year 6 pupils in their Key Stage 2 SATs assessments this year, with results in all areas above national. The results reflect the hard work, resilience and determination shown by our children throughout their time at the school, supported by our dedicated staff and families.  Across Reading, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS), and Mathematics, the majority of pupils achieved or exceeded the expected standard. Many pupils achieved high scaled scores, demonstrating strong attainment across the curriculum. Our pupils particularly excelled in Reading and GPS, with numerous children attaining scaled scores well above the national expected standard of 100. We are especially proud that many pupils achieved scaled scores of 110+ (GDS) in one or more subjects, placing them among the highest performers nationally. Several pupils attained scaled scores of up to 120 in Reading and GPS, reflecting exceptional academic success.

Inclusion and Achievement for All - We are particularly proud of the progress made by our disadvantaged pupils. Pupil Premium children in Reception achieved 100% in Reading, Writing and Mathematics by the end of the year, with strong outcomes continuing across other year groups.

Looking Ahead - These results reflect the hard work and commitment of our pupils, staff and families. We remain dedicated to providing a broad, ambitious curriculum that enables every child to thrive academically, socially and personally. We look forward to building on these successes in 2026-7.
