Week 8 in Class RA

Class: Reception Year: 2022 - 2023

Week 8 in Class Ra

Welcome to a new half term. Looking forward to all things Autumn and lots of Christmas excitement!

We have been learning all about the history behind bonfire night- ask your child what they can remember about the story. We re-enacted the story of Guy Fawkes and his dastardly plan to blow up King James. We learnt the rhyme to remember the date of bonfire night and made bonfire pictures. We have improved our teamwork and communication skills by working in groups to make firework, rocket pictures and have read and written words to describe fireworks.

In Phonics we learnt ff, ss, ll and j. All the children have read in their reading groups this week. We played a blending game where all the children had to point to body parts after blending the word in their head- This one is a great one to play at home too!

In Maths, we put the number five into part, part, whole diagrams and ten frames. The children have been practising writing out their own number sentences.

In PE, we created a firework dance and thought about all the different ways fireworks move- lots of popping, twirling and whooshing going on. The class made Mrs Goode and I very proud by showing brilliant lining up and quiet moving through school on the way to the hall.

This week’s VIP has been Isla. Isla is very kind and caring and is a lovely friend to everyone in the class.

Next week on Monday we will be starting the Nativity!
