Week 38 in Class Ra

Class: Reception Year: 2022 - 2023

We have had a very busy week in Class Ra. On Monday we watched the Year 6 performance, they were brilliant! Well done Year 6. On Wednesday we had a visit from Robbie the tortoise. We learnt all about Robbie and we even went outside and found dandelions for him to eat. We had a fantastic time learning all about Robbie and watching him enjoy his lunch. On Friday morning we had an art morning. Unfortunately due to the rainy weather we could not go outside to complete the art but instead we looked at pictures of our allotment and clippings of flowers and plants. We then used our sketching skills to draw one of the flowers or plants from our school allotment. Ra did a fantastic job at carefully drawing a plant.

In Literacy this week we written sentences about what lessons we enjoy in school to give to our Year 1 teacher. We also drew a picture of ourselves. The children wrote “In school I am best at…”. We also learnt lots of facts about tortoises this week and found out that a tortoise can live to 100 years old!

In Maths this week we have practised counting in 2s up to 20. We have also revisited ten frames and part-part whole models. We have practised writing number sentences for addition and subtraction using our part-part whole models to help us. The children have worked in partners to write their own number sentences. Well done Ra!

In P.E this week the children have practised team building games and passing a ball along their colour team in different ways. We had to pass over our head, under our knees, with our knees and with our elbows! It was quite tricky but the children did a great job at concentrating and taking their time to get it all the way down the line.

This week’s VIP has been Sophie. Sophie is a kind and caring member of our class. Sophie loves reading princess stories and is fantastic at phonics! We enjoyed looking at the blue teams show and tell this week. There is no show and tell next week.

Well done for a fantastic week Ra! We have lots of exciting activites planned for our last week of Reception next week. Have a lovely weekend!
