Week 22 in Class R

Class: Reception Year: 2022 - 2023

Welcome back after the half term break! We hope that you had a lovely holiday full of fun!

This week, the children have been designing their own aliens and writing about them. We've had some great sentences - She is pink and slimey with spots. It has 3 antennae.

Maths this week has been looking at equal groups, and odds and evens. We looked at sharing our amount into two groups and if it was equal in both groups, this would be an even number.  This is a very tricky concept for reception children, so it is something that we will be revisiting lots.

Thursday was a very exciting with World Book Day. We always love seeing the children dress up and they were very excited to see each other dressed for the day. We shared our stories, made bookmarks and did some Reading for Pleasure all cosy with cushions.

In the afternoon, the children enjoyed their gymnastics lesso in the hall with apparatus. We learnt how to jump and land safely off the benches, travel balancing along the beams, and we even practised our strength and climibing skills on our indoor climbing apparatus.

We are looking forward to next week with our trip to Zog on Wednesday morning. Please send children with a small drink and a snack for the show. The children will arrive back in time for lunch as usual. Thanks to those parents who have offered to help on the day.

On Thursday afternoon. we will be visiting the Holmes Chapel Library. We currently don't have enough helpers, so if you know that you could spare an hour with us, please email in. Thanks in advance.

Next week, is science week in school. We will be looking at animals habitats on land and in water, and learning about the importance of looking after them.

Have a good weekend.
