Week 15 in Class Ra

Class: Reception Year: 2022 - 2023

Welcome back and Happy New Year!

This week we have started our project all about our families. We had a guessing game where we tried to guess our friends from their baby photos! We looked at all different families and drew pictures of our own families (and pets of course!). We spoke about how our families are different from each other. Some of us have brothers, some of us have sisters and some of us are the only child in our family. We also compared our baby photos to what we look like now. The children spoke about how they have changed and what they can do now compared to when they were first born.

In Phonics lessons this week we have been focusing on our tricky words and writing sentences using some of these words. All children came home with a list of tricky words to help them practise at home as well as in school. In Maths we have learnt all about the number 6 and practised adding 6 on a 5 frame. We have also independently written 1 to 10 this week and pratised our number formation as well as filling in missing numbers from a number track.

In P.E this week we have started our gymnastics lessons and we learnt how to do a pencil roll correctly. We also practised passing a ball around our body and with a partner. Mrs Goode and I were so impressed! We are looking forward to continuing gymnastics in P.E and teaching more movements to create our own routine in a group.

This week’s VIP has been Liliarna. Liliarna is a kind and caring member of our class. She tries her best in everything she does and loves playing in the play kitchen outside.

We enjoyed looking at the green teams show and tell on Friday. Next week, it will be yellow group’s turn for show and tell. Please could the yellow team bring in their show and tell bags on Friday morning.

Have a lovely weekend and we’ll see you next week.
